The islands are a Canadian band, helmed by Nick Diamonds and the band recently reunited with Jamie Thompson, one of the original founders of the band back in 2006 when these former Unicorns were collaborating with some of the canadian up and comers of the time like Arcade Fire and Wolf Parade and making music that made you feel like you were enjoying a nice vacation in the islands with its calypso rhythm mixed up with synth pop beats. The second album ventured into a darker guitar heavy sound, but with the return of Thompson, Vapours is back to being light and breezy. It's more 80's synth pop than before but I like it.
